History: by Brian P. Way
In 1988 I started creating a customer database for myself by doing small carpentry jobs. 99% of my customers came to me through my father Harold Way (H.B.Way Painting Contractor). He taught me that the customer is always right. As I was growing up I realized that he had more than a working relationship with his customers, he also had developed a friendship. I strive to continue that way of business.
In about 1993 my remolding/woodworking business was bringing in plenty of work on its own by referrals. This is how my father and grandfather built their painting business.
The evolution from remolding to custom woodworking was slowly taking over. In 1995 the majority of my work was custom residential woodworking and restoration with a home based business and shop.
As my heart was now completely in woodworking, I decided in 1998 to purchase a building with 5000 sq ft to run my business from and plenty of equipment to fill it. Now I am having fun. There is almost no limit to what we can do here (so it seems). From the small-scale residential projects to the large-scale production institutional projects. We consider ourselves to be a high end millwork shop, and until the end of 2002 we have never advertised. Although this business was built upon referrals, we have chosen to expand our customer base and start advertising. So, as to where we will go from here, only the Lord really knows.
